How to play Roulette

Roulette is a classic and popular casino game that involves betting on the outcome of a spinning wheel. Here’s how to play:

  1. Understanding the Roulette Wheel: The roulette wheel consists of numbered pockets (or slots) ranging from 0 to 36 (European/French roulette) or 00 to 36 (American roulette). The numbers are alternately colored red and black, while the 0 and 00 pockets are usually green.
  2. Placing Bets: Before the wheel is spun, players place their bets on the roulette table, which features a layout with various betting options. There are two main types of bets in roulette: inside bets and outside bets.
    • Inside Bets: These are bets placed on specific numbers or small groups of numbers within the grid of the roulette table. Inside bets offer higher payouts but have lower odds of winning.
      • Straight: Betting on a single number by placing chips directly on that number.
      • Split: Betting on two adjacent numbers by placing chips on the line between them.
      • Street: Betting on a row of three numbers by placing chips on the edge of the row.
      • Corner (or Square): Betting on four numbers that form a square by placing chips at the intersection of the numbers.
      • Six Line (or Double Street): Betting on two adjacent rows of numbers by placing chips at the intersection of the two rows.
    • Outside Bets: These are bets placed on larger groups of numbers or characteristics of the numbers (e.g., color, odd/even). Outside bets offer lower payouts but have higher odds of winning.
      • Red/Black: Betting on the color of the winning number.
      • Odd/Even: Betting on whether the winning number will be odd or even.
      • Low/High: Betting on whether the winning number will be low (1-18) or high (19-36).
      • Dozens: Betting on one of three groups of 12 numbers (1-12, 13-24, 25-36).
      • Columns: Betting on one of three vertical columns of numbers on the table layout.
  3. Spinning the Wheel: Once all bets are placed, the dealer (or the digital system in online roulette) spins the roulette wheel in one direction and spins a small ball in the opposite direction around the edge of the wheel.
  4. Determining the Outcome: As the wheel slows down, the ball loses momentum and eventually comes to rest in one of the numbered pockets. The winning number is determined by the pocket in which the ball lands.
  5. Payouts: Players who placed winning bets are paid according to the payout odds associated with their bet types. The payouts vary depending on the type of bet and the probability of winning.
  6. Repeat: After the payouts are made, a new round of betting begins, and players have the opportunity to place new bets for the next spin.

That’s the basic gameplay of roulette. It’s a game of chance, and while there are strategies that players can employ to manage their bets, ultimately, the outcome is determined by luck. Enjoy the excitement of the spinning wheel and the thrill of anticipation as you wait to see where the ball will land!
